The application then executes experiments with centisecond precision. A PsyScope button box was used to collect the responses. Formal usability testing was done in two stages: (1) detailed coding of 10 individual subjects in one-on-one experimenter/subject videotaped sessions and (2) classroom testing of 64 undergraduates. Sound stimuli were presented through Optimus Pro 50MX headphones. Each scan (lasting 306 seconds) incorporated six 51-second epochs in an alternating A/B boxcar design. Following the procedure introduced by Ballas (1993), we asked subjects to listen to a large number of environmental sounds and to press a button as soon as they believed they had identified the source of each sound. There were three active conditions and three baseline social reasoning conditions per scan. In both individual and classroom testing, the students learned to effectively use PEAK within 2 h, and were able to create a lexical decision experiment in under 10 min. Findings from the individual testing in Stage 1 resulted in significant changes to documentation and training materials and identification of bugs to be corrected. Stage 2 testing identified additional bugs to be corrected and new features to be considered to facilitate student understanding of the experiment model. Such testing will improve the approach with each semester. Zombies 2 is very different from the graphics in the first version, with more effects and brighter colors. You can’t collect these skills and have to spend money to use them, but the power they give you is terrifying. You will also get your support skills, which are of three types: knockdown, freeze, and electric shock. For example, using Sunflower will give you more sun, while using Pea will fire bullets faster and more. When these leaves are placed on a particular plant, they help that plant do wonders, the same way energy drinks do. You will find magic clover all over the game. ZombiesTM 2 is much more interesting than in part 1 because the plants now have their own “killer” skills. If you don’t want to be eaten by zombies, you must choose the right plant based on what you see on the screen. The publisher has considered each type of tree’s ability, so there will be no redundant trees. There may be sun god zombies that can steal your sun, tombstone zombies, or even giant zombies. Different types of aggressive, dangerous zombies are ready to attack your house. In addition, Zombies are much more robust in this game version than in the first version. In addition, unlike part 1, most levels are in the form of a map, so you can know where you are and what the goal is. On some levels, you must collect a certain amount of sun, make sure no zombies step on the flower row, or plant the required number of plants. The developer has added requirements to make the game more exciting and challenging. In part 1, you must kill all the zombies to go to the next level. You must complete each stage to move on to the next and gain access to new crops. You will have to defend yourself from attacks from zombies worldwide, which will cause stronger zombies and new crops to appear. Usually, there will be 25 to 38 levels of increasing difficulty in each land. It has taken you and the house to places past and future, like ancient Egypt, pirate waters, and a mysterious city. Then you stumble back into the past in ancient Egypt, where you find 10 Keys to Space. You will be turned into the house owner, and your job is to plant unique plants to kill the zombies before they enter. In it, the zombies attack the city and try to come to your house to eat your brain. The setting of Plants vs Zombies™ 2 is developed based on the original setting of the first version. For the sake of the K-pop scene as a whole, here’s hoping they can.Move over Hype House, there's a new content house in town and this one is pretty freaking gorgeous. ZEROBASEONE, the new group created from the reality competition Boys Planet, are BOYNEXTDOOR’s only rivals when it comes to hype, but it remains to be seen if they will be able to deliver anything near as fresh. Later this month, another boyband will debut with the hopes of inspiring excitement across K-pop. It’s early days in any of these groups’ careers and the releases they’ve put out so far are certainly not worthy of writing them off but they’re going to have to pull something a lot fresher out of the bag if they’re going to have any hopes of keeping up with their female counterparts right now. Both Trendz and Blank2y feel like promising young acts hampered by a dedication to this sound – where once it might have been an innovative style to sit in, these days it feels too tried, too tested, too well-done. The nine-member XODIAC only debuted in March, but their first release, ‘Throw A Dice’, serves up an eclectic mix of noirish R&B, tender piano ballads and more upbeat jams that move in their own lane, while the likes of LUN8 and The New Six mine more ‘80s influences, combining metallic synth-pop with rock and funk.įor every group making the effort to try their hand at something new, though, there’s a boyband still delving into discordance. In other pockets of K-pop, KQ Entertainment’s xikers made a strong first impression with ‘HOUSE OF TRICKY: Doorbell Ringing’, a mini-album that something strayed into that noisy, wobbly territory, but put enough of a focus on hip-hop to make them feel slightly separate from the pack. Like NewJeans last year, the six-member group felt like it was paying little attention to trends and doing something completely idiosyncratic – in this case, light, bright and youthful pop shot through with wide-eyed, puppyish energy. The Zico-produced BOYNEXTDOOR are, of the current crop, the act with the biggest hype around them and, while that is likely because of the artist behind them, their debut release felt like it justified that attention. Of the emerging boybands in the last 12 months, only a handful are really doing something exciting and different and executing their individual approaches successfully. It’s by no means bad – but it doesn’t exactly capture the imagination in the same way that rookie girl groups’ releases are doing right now.īOYNEXTDOOR. Alongside big hooks, you can expect EDM drops and wonky, discordant melodies a wobbly mesh of sounds that feels like it’s about to topple over only to be saved by a juggernaut of a chorus. Much like girl crush was starting to feel like an over-worn, tired concept a little over a year ago, new releases from K-pop boybands have become increasingly predictable. There hasn’t been a year in recent memory where there’s been less hype for the rookie male groups and, while that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it does make how those bands are stepping up in response all the more interesting. It’s a turn of events that is much-deserved and brilliantly exciting to see, but one that puts the previously dominant boybands in the scene’s backseat. In the months since, though, K-pop’s girl groups have shone with refreshing new takes and sounds that thrillingly fall out of step with trends, carving their own path on their own terms. Just over a year ago, NME complained about the over-saturation of the girl crush concept amongst fourth generation girl groups, bemoaning the lack of originality, diversity and excitement within that identity. READ MORE: The 15 best K-pop songs of 2022 – so far.At long last, it feels like the pendulum of attention has resolutely swung in favour of the ladies, and they’re more than justifying that momentum. Girl groups are dominating both live performances and releases, be that NewJeans redefining what it means to be monster rookies or IVE and LE SSERAFIM presenting new, imaginative ways forward for showcasing cool confidence in their songs. It’s no secret that, in the world of K-pop in 2023, most of the scene’s focus is on the women. A one way ticket to Baltimore is $49 now! It gave an air of confidence to the American people to overcome the fears of the Depression and the downward turn of wages and prices. Although this radio message, given on July 24, 1933, addressed some of the problems and issues of the Great Depression, it also focused on what industry, employers, and workers could do to bring about economic recovery.įor a time, the NRA worked. The topic of this lesson's featured document, Fireside Chat on the Purposes and Foundations of the Recovery Program, was the NRA. Roosevelt continued to use fireside chats throughout his presidency to address the fears and concerns of the American people as well as to inform them of the positions and actions taken by the U.S. Roosevelt called his radio talks about issues of public concern "Fireside Chats." Informal and relaxed, the talks made Americans feel as if President Roosevelt was talking directly to them. During the 1930s almost every home had a radio, and families typically spent several hours a day gathered together, listening to their favorite programs. One of the ways FDR chose to accomplish this was through the radio, the most direct means of access to the American people. While developing programs to help America emerge from the Great Depression, Roosevelt also needed to calm the fears and restore the confidence of Americans and to gain their support for the programs of the New Deal, including the NRA. There was even a parade down New York's Fifth Avenue with over a quarter of a million marchers in September to show support for the NRA and the "Blue Eagle." By mid-July 1933 he launched a crusade to whip up popular support for the NRA and its symbol of compliance, the "Blue Eagle," with the motto "We do our part." The eagle, which had been modeled on an Indian thunderbird, was displayed in windows and stamped on products to show a business's compliance. Johnson headed the NRA and eventually proposed a "blanket code" pledging employers generally to observe the same labor standards. The NRA also reflected trade union hopes for protection of basic hour and wage standards and liberal hopes for comprehensive planning. Its purposes were twofold: first, to stabilize business with codes of "fair" competitive practice and, second, to generate more purchasing power by providing jobs, defining labor standards, and raising wages. The NRA was perhaps one of the most sweeping and controversial of the early New Deal programs. It also created the National Recovery Administration (NRA). The NIRA established codes of fair practice for individual industries in order to promote industrial growth. To address the problems of industry and workers, Congress passed the National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) in June 1933. The Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA) was created to ease the desperate plight of the farmer during the Depression by establishing a program of production limits and federal subsidies. Another program was the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), which put thousands of men to work on projects in national forests, parks, and public lands. Among these was the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), which was established to protect depositors from losing their savings in the event of bank failure. During the One Hundred Days, Congress enacted 15 major pieces of legislation establishing New Deal agencies and programs. These programs became known as the New Deal, a reference taken from a campaign speech in which he promised a "new deal for the American people." The New Deal focused on three general goals: relief for the needy, economic recovery, and financial reform. Immediately after his election, Roosevelt began to formulate policies to bring about relief from the economic hardships the American people were experiencing. Roosevelt stated in his first inaugural address that "we have nothing to fear but fear itself." His objectives were to calm the economic fears of Americans, develop policies to alleviate the problems of the Great Depression, and gain the support of the American people for his programs. When Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected to the presidency in 1932, it was on a promise to restore the confidence of the American people and to bring America out of the Great Depression.
